私は日本の地方で生まれ、育ち、そして日本をルーツとした芸術を享受してきました。しかし、 私はそのアートに違和感も感じてきたのです。その違和感は、「芸術」とは近代化の際に欧米から輸入された制度で あり、日本は西洋を盲目的に渇望する感覚も持っていたという事実からきています。 私の作品はおもに具象表現の絵画で、その題材は小さな地域の物語から近代の大きな歴史まで、私自身の経験やアートの歴史に関するリサーチに基づいています。私はアートワールドのインサイドとアウトサイドを行き来して、それぞれの状況を観察し、その 歴史や物語を追体験します。それらの経験を作品としてアウトプットし、作品群が鑑賞者の文化に対する価値観に変革をもたらすものとなることを、私は望んでいます。　

I was born and raised in the Japanese countryside, and have been enjoying the art rooted in Japan. However, I have been feeling a sense of incongruity in that art. This sense of incongruity comes from the fact that “art” is a system imported from Europe and the United States during the modernization, as well as from the sense of the blind craving for the West that Japan has. My works are mainly paintings of representation based on the research of art history and my experience, from little local stories to modern history. I go inside and outside the art world, and observe each condition, by which I relive the histories and the stories. I hope those experience to be output as art works, which has the ability to change its viewers’ cultural values.
